What is a granita? It’s a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water, and various flavorings. That is what this recipe was supposed to be, however, I failed to follow the directions and froze the dessert as a solid sorbet instead. May I add it taste’s delicious? Because it does and I want to make more as soon as possible.
For those of you who do not know, I am lactose intolerant. So any dessert that resembles my old love, ice cream, I immediately want to consume in mass quantities. Now, I came across the hurdle of finding a ginger liqueur. The only bottle I could find near my home was a ginormous bottle and cost about $40. No, thank you. I ended up finding an orange liqueur in the back of my mini fridge so that’s what I went with. See below the actual recipe to make a granita but feel free to follow our twist on a classic.

What did we do differently? —> Switched the Ginger liqueur for an easily accessible Orange liqueur. Used large dark purple plums and kept a sorbet texture compared to a Granita.
