BLA’s and BLAT’s are our own creation of the standard BLT’s. However, this time we decided to try out a bacon weave instead of boring strips of bacon in our sandwiches. Bacon weaves are quick and simple to make and I honestly can say I will never be able to eat a standard bacon sandwich without a bacon weave. Every bite has a crispy bacon taste and it stays together easily in the sandwich. No one likes rouge bacon falling out! Also if you are wondering why our BLT’s have no tomatoes well that is because sliced raw tomatoes are gross. BLTBLT1 BLT2BLT3BLT6BLT7 BLA (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado – GF) BLT5BLT8BLT9BLT11 BLAT (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado and Turkey) BLT12BLT13BLT15BLT16BLT17 Gluten free substitutions – We used Udi’s Gluten Free Whole Grain Bread for Katie’s sandwich. This bread is easily found at your local Safeway or Raley’s. Also Katie recommends using more mayo or condiments than you normally would on wheat bread. Gluten free bread tends to be very dry and extra mayo helps moisten the bread especially if toasted. If you have a shared kitchen I recommend making the gluten free item first and then the wheat item. This saves cleaning time.
