I’ll admit it, every January I join the healthy bandwagon and pledge my life to eating better and going to the gym. Now, I haven’t visited the gym yet…but I have started to eat healthier! I count this as a huge win during the first month of 2018. I was really craving a greasy burger the other day but I decided to try out a Greek turkey burger with tzatziki sauce instead. Around the holiday time, My aunt gifted Devin and I an awesome spice collection from Chef’s Daughter. I’m so excited to try out all of these spices for you all and will let you know our reviews as we post. On today’s post, we will feature what inspired this recipe, the tzatziki spice blend.

My other goal of 2018 is to start to make videos on DAM Good Food! This goal is extremely intimidating but Devin and I are up for the challenge!  Our first attempt did not go as planned. We managed to make a nice video and take photos at the same time only to find out the video would stop every time a photo was taken and make the camera sound!  It was super choppy and loud but our only silver lining was we got some cool step by step photos of the folding action of the lettuce wrap! Live, learn and grow right?

INGREDIENTS

Burger

1lb ground turkey

1 Tbs garlic powder

1/4 cup red onions, peeled, finely diced

1/4 cup feta cheese

1/4 cup kalamata olives, finely diced

1/4 cup spinach, chopped

Toppings

Have fun with the toppings! We used cucumber, red onion, tomato slices and iceberg lettuce.

Tzatziki Sauce

Chef’s Daughter tzatziki spices

8-12oz greek yogurt

Half  a cucumber, finely diced

2 Tbs lemon juice

RECIPE

In a bowl mix together tzatziki sauce ingredients until well combined. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, mix together burger ingredients until well combined. Divide mixture into quarters and roll into 4 separate burger patties. Spray a large skillet with cooking spray. Cook turkey burgers over medium heat for 5-8 minutes, or until browned. Flip burgers and cook for 5-8 minutes longer. Center of burger should reach 165° and no longer pink inside. Assemble your burger with tzatziki sauce and toppings that meet your heart’s desire.
